Glenda Bates (English horn) is a multi-faceted musician whose specialties include chamber music, jazz, historical performance, contemporary classical music, and orchestral repertoire.
A catalyst for new music, Glenda has premiered dozens of works by living composers. In addition to playing oboe, Baroque oboe, and English horn, she is an accomplished Jazz vocalist, a composer, and a poet.
She performs on her many instruments throughout the Bay area with various traditional and experimental groups, and is a curator at the Center for New Music. Bates earned her Doctorate of Musical Arts in Oboe Performance from Stony Brook University in New York.
