We had such a great time in January 2019 performing as part of Peggy Gyulai’s Parallel Play Presents, we’ll be reprising the entire show in April, 2019.

This features a 7-person version of alt.musica playing in parallel with Peggy, as well as Jeremy Sutton.

Featuring Elaine Alt on Soprano, Alto, Tenor & Baritone saxophones, Clarinet in A, and Voice, with the alt.musica string quartet and rhythm section.

The date is Sunday, 21 April, 2019 at 5pm at Peggy’s Studio in 1890 Bryant St., SF 94110.

You can purchase tickets through eventbrite.

Peggy, on painting in front of a live studio audience:

It is a bit like being a goldfish in a goldfish bowl, or a creature in the zoo. In fact, when I have a group of people who are attentively watching what I’m doing, I find it actually helps me focus. I get into a groove – I suppose, like a musician and enjoy having people watching what I was doing. Their ability to concentrate on what I was doing actually made me value the works more.

We’ll present ten songs composed by Elaine Alt as well as Oscar Moore, Frankie Laine,  Johannes Brahms, Malcolm X, Don Raye/Gene du Paul, and possibly even Haitus Kaiyote.

Our musical style incorporates contrasts and mashups of Swing, Latin Jazz, Funk, Afro-Cuban and Classical elements.
